This shawl is an ode to my sweet tooth, knit with scrumptious colors that remind me of the avenue of food and dessert vendors at the Nevada County fairgrounds, also known as Treat Street. The repeats of textured stitches and marled blocks of color are like the irresistible confections and sweets I crave. Knit with mini skeins, and holding two colors at a time to create a delicious fabric, this shawl is perfect for all your colorful minis.

Pattern Notes: The Treat Street Shawl is worked down and out from the center of the top edge, features a garter and lace stitch, and is knit with 14 mini skeins, holding two colors at a time to create marled colorblocks. Designed to make the most of a collection of fingering weight mini skeins, partial skeins, or other stash scraps you love. If you happen to have more or less than 1300 yards/1188 meters total and would like to knit a modified shawl, simply switch colors whenever you’d like, and then adjust the number of Large Treat Street Rows worked before beginning the border section.

Necessary skills include knit and purl, working increases and decreases, and reading charts.

Size: Finished shawl measurements after blocking: approximately 87”/220 cm wingspan along top edge and approximately 30”/76 cm depth along center spine (see schematic).

Materials:
Yarn: A Whirlwind Fauxmance collection by Teal Torch Knits, colorways Day 1 - 14 (Colors A - N) used for sample. Collection includes 14 mini skeins of TTK Sock yarn (75% superwash merino, 25% nylon; 92 yards/84 meters per 20 gram/.7 oz mini skein). Or approximately 1300 yards/1188 meters of fingering weight yarn in a variety of colors.

Needles: US size 8/5 mm needle, or size needed to obtain gauge. 40”/100 cm circular knitting needle is recommended.

Notions: stitch markers, yarn needle.
